“You love me. You love me not”
From a Daisy to another Daisy
With Stella Fyrogeni and Irene Andronikou
Staged reading
A transcendental meeting between two leading representatives of Greek prose, Margarita Karapanou and her mother Margarita Lymperaki comes to the fore with Fotini Tsalikoglou’s book “You love me. You love me not” – The strangeness of maternal love, in which she incorporates, in a sphere of contemplation and reflection, a rare testimony: the letters that Margarita Lymperaki sent to her daughter Margarita Karapanou.
Margarita Lymperaki’s letters are juxtaposed with Margarita Karapanou’s works “MAMA” , “Cassandra and the Wolf” and “Life is wildly improbable”.
At the beginning of Margarita’s letters she is fifteen years old and her mother forty-three. At the time of the correspondence, the mother is settled in Paris and Margarita is living with her grandmother in Athens.
Margarita, as revealed in the letters , does not at all wish to talk on the phone with her mother “Since we are far away, let’s not pretend we are close, because that upsets me more” .
Dream-nightmare, presence-absence and illness.
An interweaving of fictional and realistic events that tell and recreate a shocking and unforgiving love story of a mother and her daughter. A story as strange and paradoxical, as strange and paradoxical are the fundamental love stories of our lives.
