Theatro Polis – OPAP(Nicosia) – 2 & 3 December 2022

The Film Festival on Disability returns for the 2nd consecutive year, upgraded and enriched. The festival, an initiative of the Center For Social Innovation – CSI, in view of the International Day of Persons with Disabilities (3 December), will take place on Friday 2 and Saturday 3 December 2022, at the Theatro Polis – OPAP (10-12 Tempon St., opposite the Old Power House), in Nicosia. The festival will screen 5 films of different cinematic genres.

A king with an articulation problem who has to address an entire nation. The love story of a girl from the English countryside with the quadriplegic man she takes care of. The true story of a Cypriot composer with muscular dystrophy. A student with motor neurone disease who becomes a world’s top scientist. A man with scissors instead of hands, struggling to relate with “normal” people. Realism and imagination, biography and fiction, stories about people who decide to fight their own battle and overcome the social barriers of their disability.

All English-language films will be screened with Greek subtitles, while the Greek-language film will be screened with English subtitles.

During the screenings, wine, refreshments and finger food will be offered during the intermissions.

The festival is a non for profit initiative in the framework of the European projects Front Winners and Restoring Respect through Music Education/RRME (Erasmus+) in which the Center For Social Innovation is participating.
