It consists of poems and texts by poets who lived in these divided cities or refer to them, in order to show through their writings how the concept of “walls” functions in the internal and external world of people. Everyone can participate in this game. A workshop designed to make us remember how we play innocently and humanly, how we express ourselves unfiltered and truly, how we share stories and moments. It’s hard as adults to open up to people we don’t know, but it all becomes much easier through playing in a safe and respectful environment. Our game becomes the beginning of beautiful encounters.

Young Artists on Stage - Art & digital Performance (20’)

“Kάτ εικόνα”

Conception – Performance: Stavros Petrou

“Kάτ εικόνα” is an artistic performance of an experiential character, in a live-real space and time, on the subject of the contemporary life condition of a virtual reality. An individual now lives in two complementary “worlds”, consisting simultaneously of his embodied self and the virtual self-image! What happens when these two worlds begin to drift apart? Have we created a life made up of images, like a show, for invisible virtual digital recipients?

6:30 PM - 6:50 PM

Young Artists on Stage - Art Performance (20’)

“Sanctus”

Conception – Text: Maria Eleftheriou

Dramaturgy – Direction: Stavros Petrou

Actress: Georgia Nicolaou

The Art Performance “Sanctus” deals with the human’s inner impulse towards evil with the ultimate goal of pleasurable satisfaction by seeing himself, not as his real self, but as a self-dummy, a puppet that can, due to its socially accepted beauty and youth, do the ultimate evil. This impulse is more pronounced in our time since the challenges and attention-seeking by any means become more important than any virtue. Virtue in the sense that in Cyprus today humanistic values are considered obsolete. On stage the performer will move from speech to dance and from the real-performance space to the heterochronous virtual space through video art with which she will interact.

7:00 PM - 7:20 PM

Performance (20’)

«Ά – ψυχη»

Directors: Raphaela Kavazi, George Papaconstantinou

Script: George Papaconstantinou

Actress: Raphaela Kavazi

In the last stage of a catatonic episode of a young girl in a psychiatric institution, finds herself talking in front of a closed door. The closed door of our society and the people around her (us). The mental health issues hidden behind a taboo that our country keeps concealed, slowly appear before our eyes through the young girl’s desperate attempt to support the person behind the closed door. A monologue that speaks to the outside but also to our inner selves. An attempted suicide leads to an attempt to renegotiate and reposition souls struggling to make it through another day on the world map.

Theatrical play (60’)

«Λογιστικός έλεγχος ή Ισλανδία, Ένας Μοντέρνος Μύθος»

The play «Λογιστικός έλεγχος ή Ισλανδία, Ένας Μοντέρνος Μύθος» was written in 2018 by Andrew Westerside and Proto-type Theater, examines the global financial crisis and contemporary politics through the recent history of Iceland and the efforts of the Icelandic people and nation to raise their voices and protest. The work is about reclaiming human power, overthrowing a world designed to keep us enslaved and how collective power can change – even if only one small step at a time – our world.

Theatrical play (60’)

«Τον γάτο μου τον λέν Σωτήρη»

Text – Director: Constantinos Tsitsios

Actor: Giorgos Anagiotos

A dramatic monologue with comic elements.

The imprisonment of a thirty-five-year-old man in a basement after a huge global catastrophe of an unforeseen nature brings him face to face with his past life. Gradual memory loss and lack of food will bring him face to face with a difficult dilemma. One should not wait for the end of the world to embrace the ones he has loved or give in to the passions he has avoided all his life. The new generation must throw off the burdens that the previous and more intractable generation has burdened it with. The expectations of the previous generation have fallen on deaf ears and we fallen with force from Mars.

11:00 PM - 11:50 PM

Musical Narration (50’)

«Χρώματα»

Director: George Papakonstantinou

The result of the Performance Art Masterclass as a “performance”.

The Masterclass was conducted under the guidance and in collaboration with Christina Georgiou, performance artist and founder of the first performance festival in Cyprus (CIPAF Cyprus International Performance Art Festival). The masterclass followed a multi-level approach through practice, theory, performance screenings, discussion, feedback and consultation on the work of each participant individually.

Participants will have the opportunity to create and present their own performance.

6:15 PM - 6:45 PM

Young Artists on Stage (30’)

«Bits and Pieces»
Performer: Alexandros Kyriazis

Bits and Pieces is based on Friedemann Schulz von Thun’s theorem called “Inner Group”. Schulz von Thun is a psychologist and an expert in interpersonal and intrapersonal communication. The “inner group” describes how each person has a set of “voices” in his head. A kind of internal polyphony. How these voices have different characteristics and different functions.

This performance attempts to examine some of these characters. It uses improvised text and movement language that attempts to represent these different parts of the individual’s psyche. Through the aforementioned process it speaks to an internal overstimulation of the individual and how this is mirrored by the external overstimulation imposed on us by today’s societies. Using both scores and improvisation tools, it consists of different chapters, each one based on a different “voice”.

7:00 PM - 7:30 PM

Dance theatre performance (30’)

«Excavated Anatomies»

Idea, Research, Choreography, Interpretation, Script: Panagiotis Tofi

Music Composition: Marios Takousis

Cello solo: Jakub Otčenášek

The choreographic piece ‘Excavated Anatomies’ is a solo kinesthetic journey to the sounds of electronic music and strings in which the performer’s body is treated as a living archive. The movement material has emerged through a research process of ‘mining’ moments and incidents from the choreographer/performer’s life in Cyprus (from a young age to the present day) which have shaped intense memories. Texts from personal diaries have been part of this research, from which, extracts have become part of the completed work. The work deals with the inner emotional reality of a Cypriot male artist, which allows for important aspects of himself to exist – away from titles, labels and vain epiphanies – part of an abstract, structured composition in the now. In the present.
